Disney #3 - Mickey Mouse (Fishin' Around)

Most of the images from the Disney Archive Series: Story book are pencil sketches from storyboards for various Disney cartoons. Here is my rendition of a storyboard drawing from the 1931 cartoon "Fishin' Around". I find it funny that I have a hard time with Mickey's head and ears when it's essentially just 3 circles.

If you are interested, you can see the full Fishin' Around cartoon at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eveLB1LLeHg

Disney #2 - Phineas and Ferb

Phineas and Ferb are not "classic" Disney, but my kids really like them. By the time they have kids of their own they will probably think of the show as a classic.

Disney #1 - Donald Duck

This is my pencil draft of Donald Duck celebrating New Year's with his nephews. I apologize for the crummy scan. My scanner does better with inked drawings rather than pencil drawings. This drawing was a copy of this comic cover from 1943.

Disney New Year

I got the book Walt Disney Animation Studios: The Archive Series: Story for Christmas. I also received an animated Disney desk calendar as a gift. Add to that the fact that the video game Epic Mickey was on my xmas list and we're planning a family trip to Disney World this year and it's looking like a very Disney 2011.

This leads to my drawing goal for the year: to post one Disney inspired drawing each week on this blog.

Most of the drawings will come from the Archive Series book, but I will also use Walt Disney Comics covers from Cover Browser as an inspiration.

I'm hoping this drawing challenge is achievable after failing miserably at last year's challenge to create 365 drawings of my Lil Skel' character.

Stay tuned for Disney drawing #1.
